Terms of Use
Last updated: May 28, 2026
DCipher is a free, independent civic tool. By using it, you agree to the following — written in plain language, because that's the whole point of this project.
Best-effort accuracy
DCipher pulls information from public and open civic sources — the DC Master Address Repository, OpenANC, dccouncil.gov, Open Data DC, and official agency websites. We work to keep it accurate, but elected officials change, data sources update on their own schedules, and errors happen. DCipher is provided on a best-effort basis. Always verify an official's current contact information through their official government website before relying on it for anything important. If you spot an error, email dcipher.help@gmail.com and we'll fix it.
Not professional advice
DCipher provides public information to help you contact your elected officials. It is not legal, financial, or professional advice of any kind.
Third-party data and links
DCipher links to external websites — officials' pages, social media, and data sources — that we don't control and aren't responsible for. A link is not an endorsement.
Use it responsibly
DCipher's email features are for genuine civic engagement: contacting your representatives about issues you care about. Don't use the tool to send spam, harassment, threats, or abusive messages, or to impersonate anyone. How you use the email tools is your responsibility.
No warranty
DCipher is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will always be accurate, available, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DCipher and its creator are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the tool — including reliance on information that turns out to be outdated or incorrect.
Changes
DCipher may update the tool and these terms over time. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
